Once upon a time...
Hey guys! It's been a while since I've written one of these, eh? Hmm, what to say, what to say... recently I turned seventeen and I am currently in my last year of high school and 13th year of French immersion. After much deliberation, I decided WILL consider art college as a possibility for next year.
So with that in mind, I am proud to say that the Ontario College of Art and Design is having its national portfolio review day this Sunday. (I actually just found out a few hours ago). Basically, you go in, show your work and they critique it and tell you how you can improve to increase your chances of being accepted.

[link]And oh, I am worried because I don't have much to include in a portfolio on such short notice except some macros and animal photos I have taken in the past 10 months. In fact, I have a day (it is Saturday today) to prepare my entire portfolio. I wish I could shoot some portraits (I have NONE), but alas, my lens is broken (which brings me to my second point).
Recently my lens (18-70mm f/3.5-5.6) started making a strange, loud buzzing sound and refused to focus so I called Sony (which was no fun, as they've replaced the "press one, for so-and-so, press two for this-and-this" with "please state your request" but unfortunately the machine does not recognize the words "SLR" or "lens"). The man who answered my call told me to simply drop it off at one of Sony's repair centres with the original receipt. I did just that later in the afternoon and I am pleased to say that the receptionist was extremely nice and my lens will be fixed as soon as possible, or replaced with a new one if they cannot fix it. So overall, a very good experience with Sony. Highly recommended.
How is everyone doing? Do any of you plan on attending National Portfolio Review Day? Have you ever had a camera/lens problem + was it an enjoyable experience?
Btw, I really like your new ID.
you're smiling too! :]
And thank you! I hate smiling. Clearly I am doing it for you, as it was your birthday!
